Standards in the media

There have been in recent months occasions on which the media, particularly the broadcast media, have caused great offence to Christians on a number of grounds, including standards of taste and decency, and blasphemy.

Amongst these was 'Jerry Spinger - The Opera' , broadcast on January 8th AD2005 by the BBC despite more than 40,000 complaints in advance from individuals and groups on grounds of taste, decency, blasphemy and religious offence and low artistic standards.

Those who are offended by the conduct of the media have the option to exercise their freedom of expression by making protest to the appropriate people and bodies, amongst them:

Those who comtact these bodies should make mention of the particular grounds of their complaint, which may include aggresseive and sectarian secularism; deep religious offence; blasphemy; standards of taste and decency; and artistic standards.
